All GUS/Win95 Users,
Am I the only one who's happy with the Win95 Prerelease?
I installed my GUS v3.4 1MB card, downloaded the v.3.57 disk images from epas,
installed the GUS software into DOS 6.0 & Windows 3.1, then upgraded my
Windows to Win95 Prerelease (build 347). Although Win95 said "No Soundcard
Installed" when I upgraded Windows, my GUS works like a charm. I compose
with Cakewalk Home Studio 2.0 with no problems (as long as I use the "Update
Patch Cache" command when adding new instruments). I use Media Player to
play MIDI files in the background while Web-cruising, and it automatically
updates the cache. I click on an icon to run Raptor in DOS mode, and Win95
warns me that I have to close all other apps before exiting Windows, then it
runs Raptor under DOS with beautiful GUS quality sound. I have no problems
running MOD-equipped demos in DOS mode. I have Inertia Player set up as an
icon that exits to DOS, and I get great MOD playback.
Maybe I just happen to be using the best driver combination for GUS/Win95.
I don't know...
